1.0 Overview

IoT Secure's VPN solution is fully compatible with macOS, offering a seamless experience across all modern versions of the operating system. Our VPN service is engineered to be fast, secure, and reliable—providing uninterrupted access to your organization's resources while maintaining the highest standards of privacy and data protection. Beyond secure access, our platform includes real-time attack prevention capabilities that can detect and block advanced threats such as credential stuffing, brute-force attempts, and session hijacking—ensuring your environment remains protected even during active use.

This article provides step-by-step instructions for configuring a macOS device to connect to an IoT Secure VPN appliance.

3.0 End-User Configuration

1. Open Network Preferences

  • Click the Apple menu and choose System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).

  • Select Network.


2. Add a New VPN Interface

  • Click the + button at the bottom of the list.

  • Interface: VPN

  • VPN Type: L2TP over IPSec (Pre-Shared Key)

  • Service Name: [Contact System Administrator]

  • Click Create


3. Configure VPN Settings

In the new VPN configuration:

  • Server Address: [Contact System Administrator]

  • Username: [Contact System Administrator]

  • Click Authentication Settings...

    • Password: [Contact System Administrator]

    • Shared Secret: [Contact System Administrator]

    • Click OK


  • Click Advanced...

    • Check Send all traffic over VPN connection if required by your organization

    • Click OK

5. Apply and Connect

  • Click Apply to save the settings

  • Click Connect to initiate the VPN connection


Once connected, the status will show as Connected, and you should now have access to the remote network.
